Trip Overview
Mikumi National Park is the Seventh national park, with a landscape of baobabs, black hardwood trees and grassy plains, and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With almost guaranteed year-round wildlife sightings, Mikumi makes an ideal safari destination for those without much time. Within its 3230 sq km – set between the Uluguru Mountains to the northeast, the Rubeho Mountains to the northwest and the Lumango Mountains to the southeast – Mikumi hosts buffaloes, wildebeest, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras, leopards, crocodiles and endangered wild dogs, and chances are high that you’ll see a respectable sampling of these within a short time of entering the park.
Day to Day Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Dar Es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Drive from Dar – Es – Salaam at 07:00 to 07:30 am and travel 320 km to Mikumi National Park with lunch at the restaurant in Morogoro. After lunch proceeds with a drive to the Park for evening game drive in the park up to late evening.
This is a home to the elephant, lion, wild dog, zebras, hyena, buffalo, wildebeest, eland, hartebeest, crocodile, lizard and more. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.
Dinner and overnight inside the park at Mikumi Bandaz.
Mikumi Bandaz Hotel is Mid-range Luxury Hotel that offers a different type of accommodation to suit all needs.The Hotel consists of a chalet in different sizes and a campsite. All the chalets are decorated with locally made furniture and fabrics to keep an authentic atmosphere.
Day 2:
Enjoy an early morning game drive in the park till we finish our safari and then drive back to the hotel for a hot breakfast. After breakfast we will continue with safari before leave the park and drive back to Dar es Salaam in afternoon with a lunch stop at the restaurant on the road. Continue with a drive to Dar es salaam
